OUR STORY
Kgorogoro Lodge is named after the Crimson Breasted Shrike, a rare sighting elsewhere,
but fairly often seen among the thorn bushes of Black Rhino. A flash of dashing, eye-blinding, near luminous red
next to pitch black, is such a surprise in the grey, brown and green bush surroundings!

Naming our lodge after this special bird’s African Tswana name, reminds us of the unexpected
treasures often found in this part of Africa.

Falling in love with Black Rhino is easy. There are many local stories about the animals and plants to hear.
Make sure you ask about the Shepherd's Tree, and why they call it the “Tree of Life ” in the North West;
the red, bare, mineral site in the Tamboti forest and why no grass can ever grow on the "sodic site".
